No. Our primary care team welcomes new patients for checkups, sick visits and ongoing health needs, whether or not you receive recovery care with us. If you do, your primary care and recovery providers can work together so your care stays connected.

Yes, many follow-up visits, medication checks and minor concerns can be handled by secure video. Physicals, vaccines, and visits where your provider needs to examine you are done in person.

Medication for addiction treatment (sometimes called MAT) combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and support. For opioid or alcohol use disorder, medications such as buprenorphine or naltrexone can ease withdrawal and cravings and lower the risk of relapse and overdose. Your provider will talk with you about whether medication is right for you.

Yes. Many recovery visits can be done by secure video from the privacy of home. Some medications, including certain controlled medications, require in-person visits under federal and Michigan rules, and your provider will let you know when that applies.

Yes. Your health information is protected by HIPAA, and records from your recovery care have extra protection under federal law (42 CFR Part 2). We will not share that you receive recovery care without your written consent, except in the limited situations the law allows. See our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Yes. Over time, alcohol and drugs change brain chemistry and can cause or worsen anxiety, depression, sleep problems and memory trouble, and some substances can trigger psychosis. Many people also use substances to cope with these symptoms. Treating substance use and mental health together, which we do, gives the best chance of feeling better.

Stimulants, such as cocaine, methamphetamine and misused prescription medications like Adderall, speed up the brain and body and raise dopamine, which brings energy, focus and euphoria. With repeated use they can lead to tolerance, dependence, anxiety, paranoia, heart problems and addiction. Treatment focuses on counseling, support and care for related health and mental health conditions.
